SUMMARY:Energy Talks & Drinks
DESCRIPTION:  \nCan innovation\, the energy transition\, and marine engineering go hand in hand with restoring and protecting our vital marine ecosystems? \nAs offshore energy continues to expand in the North Sea\, the conversation is shifting\, from minimizing impact to actively creating positive ecological outcomes. Innovators and industry are already taking concrete steps in this direction. During the next edition of Energy Talks & Drinks on Thursday\, February 5\, we are proud to highlight some examples. \nSpeakers\n\nJaime Ascencio – Reefy\n\nBy combining expertise in hydraulic engineering and marine biology\, Reefy integrates nature restoration into marine infrastructure projects. They support clients from start to finish: navigating project requirements\, selecting the right solutions\, and monitoring ecological impact throughout the project’s lifespan. \n\nFerdi Knoester – Kelp Blue\n\nKelp Blue is cultivating giant kelp on large-scale offshore structures to help rewild our oceans\, lock away carbon\, and restore marine ecosystems. Beyond its ecological benefits\, the harvested kelp is processed into high-performing biostimulants\, supporting the transition to more sustainable agricultural. Their work shows how offshore\, ecology\, and industry can reinforce each other\, creating impact both at sea and on land. \n\nRobbert Wolf – Port of Rotterdam\n\nThe Port of Rotterdam is a place where industry and nature coexist. The Port Authority actively works to protect\, preserve\, and further develop nature and biodiversity within the port’s industrial landscape. By integrating ecological thinking into port development and operations\, the Port of Rotterdam demonstrates how large-scale infrastructure can evolve towards a more nature-inclusive and future-proof system. \nProgram\n\n17:00 – Walk-in with bites and drinks\n17:30 – Start of the plenary program\n\nJaime Ascencio – Reefy\nFerdi Knoester – Kelp Blue\nRobbert Wolf – Port of Rotterdam\n\n\n18:30 – Networking drinks\n\nSign up for the event here
